The role requires a BS/BA in a related field or equivalent experience, with 3+ years preferred. Strong writing, videography, and editing skills are essential for success in this newsroom.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in a related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred.
• Generally 3+ years of experience in a related field preferred.
• Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive assignments or evaluate news leads and tips to develop story ideas.
• Gather and verify factual information through interviews, observation, and research.
• Organize material, determine slant or emphasis, and write stories to editorial standards.
• Shoot video and still photos to illustrate stories.
• Edit videos for all multimedia platforms or assist in editing.
• Appear on TV in live and pre-recorded stories.
• Work with the photographer assigned to the story, if any.
• Assist news producers in preparing newscasts.
• Assist digital staff in preparing multimedia stories and online content.
