Job summary

KUTV, a Sinclair Broadcast Group property in Utah, seeks a Digital Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) to cover Southern Utah from Washington County near St. George. You will create enterprise stories for broadcast, kutv.com, YouTube, and social platforms.

The role requires strong writing, the ability to pitch and edit stories, and a track record of multi-platform content. At least two years in a newsroom is preferred; student work may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Identify, pitch, create, shoot, write, and edit enterprise stories focused on advocacy and accountability.

• Collaborate with all newsroom team members.
• Develop contacts and sources in the community to generate enterprise story ideas.
• Produce digital versions of reports for YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook, coordinating with the digital team on a tailored plan for each story.
• Maintain an active social media presence to build your personal brand.

KUTV, a multi-platform media company that provides important storytelling content on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and a host of digital platforms, is looking for a take-chargeDigital Multimedia Journalist (MMJ)to cover Southern Utah. This employee will be based in Washington County, Utah, near St. George.

We are seeking a motivated, energetic, creative, and aggressive content creator who has a passion for covering our local communities on every KUTV platform, including broadcast, KUTV.COM, YouTube, our mobile app, and social media platforms. The ideal candidate should also have sound writing skills, a great work ethic, and a can-do attitude. This Digital MMJ position is ideal for someone with at least two years of professional newsroom experience. Applicants with a strong portfolio of student work may also be considered.

No day will look the same as a Multi-Media Journalist, however, the main responsibilities of the role will include:

• Identify, pitch, create, shoot, write, and edit meaningful enterprise stories focused on advocacy and accountability
• Work closely with newsroom managers to refine pitches and story scripts
• Reviewing material for fairness, accuracy, and balance
• Work as a team with all members of the newsroom
• Develop and maintain contacts and sources in the community to enterprise story ideas
• Produce digital versions of your reports. This may include digital-only elements, producing unique content for YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. Working with the digital team to create a unique digital plan for each story.
• Maintain an active social media presence to build your brand.

Additionally, This Person Should Have:

• Proven knowledge and experience working with current media creation tools
• Storytelling abilities across multiple platforms
• Strong writing and copy-editing skills are a must
• Must be able to work well under pressure to meet deadlines
• Minimum of two years professional newsroom experience
