Job summary

South Dakota Public Broadcasting is seeking a Journalism Intern in Sioux Falls for the Fall session (September–December). The intern will learn to perform duties like an entry-level multimedia reporter, covering stories in person, online, or by phone for broadcast and web, and gaining experience in audio/video production.

Applicants must be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student and have completed at least one year in their program.

Qualifications

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student at the time of application.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year of their program.
• Preference may be given to juniors/seniors, SD residents, and students of SD institutions.
• Spring and Fall interns work up to 20 hours per week as schedule allows.

Responsibilities

• Intern reporters perform duties equal to entry-level reporters in a public media setting.
• Cover and report a variety of news stories in person, online, or over the phone for broadcast and web.
• Gain experience producing and editing audio and video using Adobe Audition or Final Cut Pro.
• Participate in live unscripted interviews and help host live news programs as skill permits.
