Scientific American is seeking a multimedia intern to create audio and video stories that explain highly technical, and highly important, scientific concepts. You will assist in the coordination, recording, transcription and post-production of podcasts and videos.

This paid, full-time internship runs 5-6 months from January 2027. It is remote, with preference for occasional on-location work in New York City.

Qualifications

  • Technical proficiency in the Adobe Create Suite, with a particular focus on Premiere and Audition.
  • Experience with a variety of camera and field audio equipment.
  • An undergraduate degree in a science discipline is preferred but not required

The Role

Scientific American’s multimedia intern will create audio and video stories that explainhighly technical, and highly important, scientific concepts. As the multimedia intern, youwill assist in the coordination, recording, transcription and post-production of podcastsand videos.

Qualifications:
  • Technical proficiency in the Adobe Create Suite, with a particular focus onPremiere and Audition
  • Experience with a variety of camera and field audio equipment
  • An undergraduate degree in a science discipline is preferred but not required

This position pays $22 per hour and is full-time—up to 40 hours per week—for 5-6 months, from January into June 2027. This is a remote role, although preference will be given to those who are available for occasional recording and filming on location in and around New York City .
