The role requires flexibility to cover production windows, deadlines, and possible early mornings or weekends. You will generate stories beyond meetings, take your own photos and videos, and contribute to both print and online editions.

Qualifications

• Experience in newsrooms and knack for creative stories (news and features).
• Ability to take photos and videos for stories.
• Familiarity with a content management system is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Cover local news and features for The Star Democrat.
• Work with editors and reporters to develop story ideas.
• Produce in-depth reporting under deadline pressure and post online as needed.
