General Assignment Reporter Full-Time

Are you passionate about community journalism and telling the stories that matter to local readers? We are seeking a motivated, dependable, and deadline-driven General Assignment Reporter to join our newsroom team.

This position will cover a variety of local news and community topics throughout Rockingham and Page counties, as well as Harrisonburg. Responsibilities include covering local government, council and school board meetings, community events, breaking news, and feature stories that highlight the people, organizations, and issues important to our readers.

The ideal candidate will have strong writing, reporting, and communication skills, along with a keen news sense and the ability to identify compelling local stories. Candidates should be comfortable managing multiple assignments, working independently, meeting deadlines, and adapting to changing priorities in a fast-paced newsroom environment.

Photography and social media skills are a plus and will help support our print and digital news coverage.

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week.
