Job summary

Chicago Public Media in Chicago is seeking an experienced General Assignment Reporter to join our growing newsroom. The General Assignment Reporter will provide breaking and trending news and feature coverage for and about the Chicago metropolitan area.

The ideal candidate will discern facts quickly and write with a fun, engaging voice on cultural trends, with multimedia elements possible. You may work nights, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of experience as a reporter.
• Ability to write in-depth stories and juggle multiple assignments.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide breaking, trending news and feature coverage for the Chicago metropolitan area.
• Report clearly, accurately, and fairly with fully sourced stories under tight deadlines.
• Collaborate with editors and reporters on breaking news and assignments.
• Produce original content independently and on assignment.
