Multimedia Content Specialist
Primary Purpose: Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Law School Marketing and Communications at the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, the Multimedia Content Specialist will develop, curate, write and edit compelling and engaging content for multiple platforms and publications including news stories, blogs, social media campaigns, email campaigns, digital newsletters, websites, videos, events, and the university's magazine. The Multimedia Content Specialist will have a deep understanding of news and its relationship and application to social media and digital communications to attract prospective students, and engage employees, donors, alumni, supporters and key influencers to become advocates and champions. This experienced and versatile communicator will assist in enrollment marketing efforts from multiple departments at the law school, including academic programs and the Salzburg study abroad programs. This position is located on the Sacramento Campus and will work in-person on campus.
Established in 1924, University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law is a private, not-for-profit law school in California's capital city. McGeorge offers a full-time and evening Hybrid Evening JD program, an LLM degree, a JSD degree, an MPA degree, an MPP degree, and an MSL degree.
Essential Functions
- Establish, coordinate, and execute social media strategy forthe law school, under the direction of the Assistant Dean of LawSchool Marketing and Communications.
- Develops and updates social media content and monitors brand'ssocial networks, responding to comments and collecting feedbackfrom audiences.
- Creates comprehensive plans for social media engagement,including conducting market research to identify social media sitespreferred by target audiences, engaging types of posts, and peakengagement posting times.
- Cultivate data-driven, high-impact, and results-orientedenrollment marketing practices to ensure annual enrollment of ahigh-achieving and diverse student body within the JD program andLLM program.
- Capture, create, and edit captivating high-quality visualimages to promote the law school. Provide on-site event photo/videocoverage for key institutional moments (e.g., Commencement, JDAdmissions Open House, Admitted Students Day, orientation, yieldevents, etc.) on a rotating basis during evenings or weekends.
- Record and edit compelling videos to be used across variousplatforms, including websites, social media, and digitalnewsletters that authentically showcase McGeorge'scommunity,academics, and campus life. Videos should be in alignment withuniversity brand, goals and objectives. Produce long-formhorizontal videos for YouTube and short-form vertical videos forTikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and emergingplatforms.
- Maintain organized digital asset libraries with appropriatemetadata, versioning, and usage rights. Upload finished content andb-roll to digital libraries for future possible use.
- Develop major story and feature ideas that elevate Universityof the Pacific McGeorge School of Law regionally and nationally;creates and edits an extensive and wide array of compelling andinteresting news and feature stories, web and magazine features,profiles, bios, newsletter content, blogs, captions, and speechesof varying lengths.
- Make decisions and recommendations regarding content directionand selection, content placement, and timing.
- Has a keen sense of curiosity in finding story ideas and knowshow to tease out content from a variety of sources. Identifiesstories that are media worthy and works with the Assistant DeanLaw School Marketing and Communications on pitching.
- Highly adept at researching and gathering data and marketintelligence, finding sources, conducting interviews; fact checksall content with multiple sources.
- Provide editing support, including proofreading, errorchecking, fact checking, and production support for a variety ofmarketing materials in different formats (video, print,digital).
- Can easily work with senior leaders throughout the organizationand cultivate strong relationships and networks with coworkers,community members and university colleagues to identify potentialstory ideas and other areas of content, as well as to seek outinformation.
- Manages digital newsletters, which entails writing, layout,distribution and analytics.
- Coordinate robust email marketing campaigns. Monitor andanalyze the effectiveness of email marketing efforts using varioustools and metrics, such as web analytics, email open rates,click-through rates, conversion rates, etc., and provide regularreports and recommendations for improvement.
- Plan, implement, and assess marketing campaigns (email, print,and digital) to external audiences.
- Create and develop graphic design materials for the law school.Conceptualize, develop, and implement graphic design in marketingcampaigns and collateral as needed. Takes initiatives from conceptto completion to inform and engage key stakeholders while ensuringthe highest possible quality and consistency in look and feel forall projects.
- Track the course of marketing initiatives, analyze, and presentresults. Propose corrective actions as appropriate. Update,maintain, and recommend solutions for optimizing law schoolcommunications to internal and external audiences.
- Develop landing pages, program descriptions, and priority webcontent optimized for readability, engagement, and conversion.
- Supervise student employees and temporary employees as needed;delegate tasks, approve timesheets, create work schedules, andoversee their work product.
- Initiate and facilitate collaboration between differentdepartments on behalf of the Law School Office of Marketing andCommunications.
- Ensure visual and verbal consistency of materials produced bythe law school.
- Ensure workflow is timely and efficient.
- Handle confidential materials and situations with sensitivity,discretion, and independent judgement.
- Follows university's editorial standards, branding guidelines,and accessibility standards.
- Proofreads and edits content for accuracy, clarity,consistency, grammar and editorial style.
- Manage special projects and other related duties asassigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, marketing, communications, professional writing, or relevant field.
- Two (2) years of work experience with AP style, journalistic writing, and news reporting for a variety of audiences.
- Two (2) years of experience shooting and editing photography and videography.
- One (1) year of experience developing content for social media channels (including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, and TikTok).
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, and InDesign.
- Experience with Instagram Edits, TikTok Creative Studio, and CapCut for short-form video editing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in journalism, English, marketing, communications, professional writing, or relevant field.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and photography/videography skills and the ability to work well under tight deadlines.
- High level proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with Canva or a similar graphic design platform.
- Experience working with content management systems and email marketing applications.
- Experience writing marketing copy for various forms of marketing collateral, email marketing campaigns, social media, and advertisements.
- Experience using analytics software such as Google Analytics and Sprout Social.
- Experience working in a higher education or agency setting.
- Experience using social media platforms.
- Familiarity with evaluating, hiring, and managing outside vendors and/or freelance creative resources.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Hiring Range
Hiring Range: $22.68 - $30.04 per hour We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
