Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools is hiring a Certificated Teacher - Multilingual Specialist (ML) for elementary education. The teacher will support multilingual learners through standards-based instruction and collaboration with classroom teachers.

Responsibilities include planning engaging lessons, applying diverse instructional strategies, monitoring student progress, maintaining records, and participating in extracurricular duties. A strong commitment to equity and cultural competence is expected.

Qualifications

• Current trends and practices in education
• Instructional theory and its application
• Motivating student learning through inquiry, discussion, and application of knowledge
• Organizing the physical and human elements in the educational setting
• Instructional and non-instructional human dynamics
• Standards-based instruction and familiarity with Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements
• School board policies and procedures

Responsibilities

• Teach and perform other duties related to the school program as assigned by the Principal or designee
• Follow District Student Exit Outcomes at each level and subject area
• Keep current on educational research, trends, and practices
• Integrate a variety of instructional strategies and curriculum content
• Establish objectives aligned with district curricula
• Prepare effective lesson plans and motivate students
• Explain assignments clearly and organize the classroom
• Evaluate student progress and maintain records
• Collaborate with building subject area teachers to align curriculum and instruction
• Involve counselors, administration, and other staff as needed
• Set clear behavior expectations and discipline appropriately
• Encourage courtesy, self-control, respect, and responsibility
• Participate in extracurricular responsibilities
• Curriculum and classroom management are aligned with district needs
