Job summary

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI lab to recruit Multiline Property & Casualty Underwriters. You will design underwriting scenarios, evaluate model outputs, and help shape how AI reasons about insurability, pricing, and portfolio fit.

Candidates should have direct authority or meaningful responsibility for evaluating and selecting risks across personal, commercial, or specialty lines. The role requires 2+ years of underwriting experience with strong written reasoning and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional P&C underwriting experience.
• Underwritten at least one major segment (personal lines, commercial property, general liability, etc.).
• Understand the underwriting lifecycle from submission to renewal.
• Explain how account characteristics, jurisdiction, peril, loss experience affect decisions.
• Demonstrate strong written reasoning and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design underwriting scenarios for new business, renewals, and risk analysis.
• Create underwriting assessments, quote rationales, and information requests.
• Write high-quality, model-ready responses with expert underwriter input.
• Grade AI-generated outputs against rubrics for accuracy and risk judgment.
• Provide feedback to the research team to improve model behavior.
• Participate in onboarding hours and calibration sessions.
