Job summary

Contract Lumber in Pataskala, Ohio is seeking a Multifamily Preconstruction Estimator to review plans, perform material takeoffs, and develop accurate project estimates to help set budgets before construction begins.

You will identify value engineering opportunities, coordinate with suppliers and internal teams, and ensure clear handoffs to the operations group to keep projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Prev. experience in construction estimating, preconstruction, multifamily construction.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural construction plans.
• Experience performing material quantity takeoffs.
• Knowledge of lumber and building materials is preferred.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating or takeoff software.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare conceptual, schematic, and final project estimates for multifamily construction projects.
• Review architectural and structural plans to determine lumber and building material quantities.
• Identify scope gaps and potential issues in drawings and specs.
• Recommend alternative materials or methods to reduce costs while maintaining quality.
• Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to obtain current pricing and budgets.
• Ensure budgets and project requirements are clearly communicated to operations before construction begins.
• Stay informed of pricing and market conditions affecting costs.
