Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a Multicraft Maintenance Technician Apprentice at our Salisbury, NC shop. Reporting to the Shop Manager, the Multicraft Maintenance Technician Apprentice will primarily be responsible for enrolling and completing the four-year, Multicraft Maintenance Technician Apprentice program through RCCC and gaining on-the-job training to complete this program within the mechanic, machining, and welding functional groups primarily in a shop setting.

Description

Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a Multicraft Maintenance Technician Apprentice at our Salisbury, NC shop. Reporting to the Shop Manager, the Multicraft Maintenance Technician Apprentice will primarily be responsible for enrolling and completing the four-year, Multicraft Maintenance Technician Apprentice program through RCCC and gaining on-the-job training to complete this program within the mechanic, machining, and welding functional groups primarily in a shop setting.

On-the-Job Training

  • Enroll and complete the Multicraft Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Program requirements over a four-year span
  • Current in-classroom course requirements would require attendance on Fridays at applicable RCCC campus locations. OJT would primarily be at Salisbury Shop, however, may include rotations at some local operations to fulfill program requirements.
  • Disassemble crusher subassemblies using hand tools and power tools (electric, pneumatic, battery, and hydraulic)
  • Powerwash and sandblast components to perform a pre-reman inspection
  • Use common metrology equipment to obtain measurements and distinguish focused areas needing further attention such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and feeler gauges.
  • Interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and machining documents
  • Use torches, plasma cutters, saws, lancing, and air-arcing equipment to remove material
  • Use basic welding processes such as stick and mig to join materials
  • Use hydraulic rams to push and pull pieces in and out of place
  • Perform shrink-fit operations using liquid nitrogen, dry ice, rosebuds, induction, and oil baths
  • Torque bolts using hydraulic wrenches, lithium torque wrenches, torque multipliers, and hand torque wrenches
  • Set clearances on bearings and gears
  • Complete task training on all applicable equipment before using
  • Perform PM on remanufactured machines along with shop fixed and mobile equipment
  • Complete MMU training to further leadership and communication skills (minimum 1 per year)

Position Requirements

  • Maintain a high level of safety and ensure that the team maintains a safety-first culture
  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • Must be a self-motivated, strong work ethic individual that is willing to work with minimal supervision and at a high level of accountability to operational requirements
  • A strong mechanical interest is needed
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills with the ability to report and transfer information needed
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions, cold and wind, sometimes rain, will be required
  • The candidate must represent Martin Marietta in a professional, positive manner
