Responsibilities
  • Performs routine inspections and maintenance on campus buildings, infrastructure, and assets.
  • Completes minor carpentry tasks such as drywall repair, painting, flooring, and furniture maintenance.
  • Performs plumbing repairs, including fixing leaks, replacing fixtures, and overseeing large projects.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots HVAC systems for optimal performance.
  • Diagnoses and repairs electrical systems, ensuring safety compliance.
  • Coordinates with vendors and manages service agreements.
  • Ensures all work complies with codes, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of work activities.
  • Responds to emergencies as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of experience in at least two trades such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or grounds maintenance.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications in trades like HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or carpentry.
  • Experience in a college or institutional setting.
  • Additional certifications in facility management or safety.
  • Pesticide or ornamental license.

  • Knowledge of tools and materials for locksmith, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work.
  • Understanding of OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams and troubleshoot issues.
  • Strong judgment, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Work Environment
  • Indoor and outdoor work, exposure to weather and fumes.
  • Use of protective gear required.
  • Flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders.
  • Driving college vehicles required.

Contingent on successful completion of a physical assessment. Reassessment may be required for current employees.

Additional Information

Position is eligible for Veteran’s Preference. Must reside in Florida at the time of hire. Background checks and fingerprinting are required.
