BASIC FUNCTION:

The incumbent will operate equipment to cut steel poles and shafts using CNC plasma cutting machinery, magnetic cranes, forklifts, etc.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate magnetic cranes and multi-torch plasma cutting machines based on supervisor’s instructions, utilizing blueprints and work orders to shape steel components.
• Set up the multi-torch cutting machinery according to blueprints, selecting appropriate steel types and gauges to produce specified shapes, designs, and dimensions.
• Maintain the equipment by keeping it clean and performing preventative maintenance as needed.
• Work efficiently to deliver quality products on time, minimizing errors.
• Perform additional duties as directed by leadership.
• Participate actively in safety programs, adhering to all safety policies and procedures.

SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of experience in heavy manufacturing or graduation from an accredited trade school with one year of experience.
• Ability to program, re-set, troubleshoot CNC machinery, and perform operator maintenance.
• Effective communication skills to report equipment or procedural issues.
• Ability to operate overhead cranes.
• Knowledge of welding procedures, basic mathematics, and measurement systems.
• Understanding of Valmont’s quality and environmental policies.
• Able to meet production, quality, and attendance standards after 90 days.
