Overview

Are you detail-oriented, highly organized, and passionate about ensuring a seamless customer experience? Room & Board is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Chicago showrooms as a Multi-Store Retail Inventory Associate. You will be at the forefront of maintaining inventory integrity within our showroom environments, playing a crucial part in delivering an extraordinary customer experience.

At Room & Board, our Multi-Store Retail Inventory Associates are solely responsible for inventory integrity within the showroom environment. They are a critical member of multiple retail teams and collaborate in person and remotely with store partners to ensure accurate inventory processes that support an extraordinary customer experience across multiple locations. Our Inventory Associates also build relationships with internal delivery and distribution partners to support the execution of the showroom's inventory and logistics.

The Multi-Store Retail Inventory Associate role is physical in nature. You will spend time maintaining the day to day of inventory flow, through various technology applications. You are adept at communication, both listening to and sharing information, and can confidently educate the team on how inventory integrity supports the customer experience. You are skilled at giving and receiving thoughtful feedback that improves the work and strengthens your professional relationships. You are a strategic thinker who pro-activelyprioritizes tasks with thoughtful planning and foresight.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM or 8:30AM - 5:00PM

Start time may be as early as 7:00am during large projects

This role will be based out of our Chicago showroom, with travel to our Oakbrook and Skokie showrooms as needed throughout the week and month. This schedule is subject to change to meet the needs of the business, so flexibility with your schedule is necessary.

Our showroom hours: Monday-Friday: 11am-7pm; Saturday: 10am-6pm; Sunday: 11am-6pm.

You'll share your talents in the following ways as a Multi-Store Retail Inventory Associate:

  • Ensure execution of inventory responsibilities for all locations under purview through a combination of coordinated remote partnership, virtual communication, and in-person travel to maintain accurate and productive inventories that support an extraordinary customer experience.
  • Develop, execute, and ensure processes are in place for multiple retail locations that result in accurate movement of inventory; with all incoming/outgoing transfers of product, as well as movement within the sale/return processes.
  • Plan and execute timely cycle counts to maintain accurate inventories for multiple retail locations.
  • Execute timely replenishment updates and ensure product locations are accurate to maintain stock levels that support multiple productive retail location inventories and the customer experience.
  • Provide inventory logistics perspective as a key member of multiple store Triangle (Leadership, Visual, and Inventory) Teams.
  • Process all damages and vendor returns in an efficient and timely manner and share broader concerns with key partners.
  • Partner with Leadership on product markdowns and ensure supplies/damages are within budgets.
  • Research and identify inventory opportunities, collaborate with cross-functional partners on solutions, and take action to resolve concerns in a way that positively impacts inventory integrity.
  • Coordinate and execute tagging responsibilitiesfor multiple locations.
  • Maintain welcoming stock room environments that are safe, organized, efficient and support the selling teams and the customer experience.
  • Educate store teams to further understand the effect they have on inventory integrity and ultimately, the customer experience.
  • Be an active leader within the multiple locations by embracing, supporting and pro-activelyresponding to changes in the business.
  • Maintain the Product Inventory Master (PIM) for each location to ensure it accuratelyreflects the inventory on display.
  • Support the success of others in each location by actively engaging in understanding their roles and responsibilities. Provide meaningful feedback that supports a seamless customer experience.

  • Inventory Experience. You bring related multi-store inventory management experience (preferred).You enjoy the intricacies of overseeing and maintaining a precise inventory system that caters to the needs of our business.
  • Natural at building relationships. You demonstrate a joy in working with people as you serve as a strong partner and collaborate with the showroom teams.
  • Effective communication skills. You bring professional, consistent and timely communication to ensure that you create the best experiences for our customers, retail team and internal partners.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills. You have the skills to develop a game plan that is aligned to sales and supporting the retail team. You bring an aptitude for good time management, process execution and a proactive problem solver.
  • Skilled in Technology.You are confident navigating technology (Microsoft 365 Suite/applications, SAP, etc) and leveraging tools and resources to successfully accomplish the task at hand.
  • Ability to safely perform the work. The safety and wellbeing of our staff members is paramount. We recognize this role requires physical stamina and therefore require final candidates to complete a pre-employment physical.
