Job summary

SURTECO is seeking a Multi-stage Operator in Monroe, NC to operate a rotogravure press and supervise the Second Operator and Production Helper. You will ensure quality, efficiency, and adherence to safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, basic mechanical and computer skills, and 1–3 years of related press experience. Training will be provided, with growth potential within the production team.

• Troubleshoot production issues and adjust press settings as needed.

We are seeking an individual who is passionate about joining a team in the manufacturing of high quality laminates and films used in a variety of applications including on cabinetry in kitchen and bath applications, countertops and paneling in recreational vehicles and in the enhancement of interior retail spaces.

The Multi-stage Operator is responsible for operating a multi-stage rotogravure press and training and directing the support positions of Second Operator and Production Assistant. The operator will ensure the product meets quality standards and is run efficiently but will troubleshoot any production problems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Follow all safety rules
• Actively participate in SHE program
• Use SAP accounting system for all press confirmations and production labeling
• Operate rotogravure press
• Operate ink spec viscosity control systems
• Operate registration controls
• Camera setup, defect tracking and report out
• Give direction to Second Operator and Production Helper
• Thread paper/film through press
• Adjust blades
• Gather proper raw materials. Assure and maintain proper raw material levels.
• Set register
• Watch product for defects in web
• Assist Color Match and QC to ensure the delivery of a quality product
• Troubleshoot production issues
• Adjust press settings based on production run
• Install and remove cylinders
• Adjust ink amounts for proper color matching
• Direct Second Operator and Production Helper to make ready next order materials
• Inspect rolls of finished product for defect
• Responsible to make sure press is always clean
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds as needed.
• Frequently positions self to use/maintain personal protective equipment.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Regularly required to stand for extended periods of time; walk; sit; bend; kneel; squat; climb stairs; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms
• Comfortable with working in a manufacturing environment alongside machines, equipment, etc.
• Ability to detect, distinguish, or determine the source of a smell
• Exposure or works around chemical processing, unregulated temperature, dusty conditions

Desired Qualifications:

• One to three years rotogravure press experience

Travel Requirements:

Time spent away from home or typical office location.
