The Technology & Manufacturing Association is seeking a skilled technician to set up and operate Multi Spindle Cam Screw machines in Geneva, Illinois. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Set up and troubleshoot new parts and change-over machines.
  • Perform minor repairs and communicate with maintenance as needed.
  • Train operator personnel as required.

Multi Spindle Screw Machine Set‑Up – Job Description
General Description

Set‑up, operate, and trouble‑shoot a variety of Multi Spindle Cam Screw machines including Gildemeister and a plus if you have experience with Davenport or Euroturns.

Responsibilities
  • Setup and troubleshoot new parts & change‑over machine: cams, collets, gears, pushers, tool spindles, etc.
  • Check and adjust machine components as needed and recognize when advanced machine repairs are required.
  • Work with engineering and quality to design tools.
  • Advanced understanding of layouts: calculate FPR, SFM, threading cams, pickoff and counter‑bore cams, determine correct cycle times.
  • Operate machine.
  • Load material on machines as needed: 12‑foot bar stock in most cases.
  • Read, understand information in workmanship standards.
  • Fill out appropriate sections of work order.
  • Handle, store, use micrometers, calipers, gages appropriately.
  • Perform and document Smith & Richardson inspection procedures when appropriate (SPC charts, work orders, move tickets).
  • Identify nonconforming product or material.
  • Wash tools and return to storage area.
  • Oil, lube, clean and perform minor repairs as needed.
  • Communicate with tool room or maintenance as required by manager.
  • Assist with training of operator persons as needed.
  • Know and follow safety standards.
  • Participate in corrective actions as required.
  • Remove scrap.
  • Other duties as required.

  • Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, visual acuity‑far/near depth perception, field of vision and accommodation.
Physical Demands
  • Lift up to 75 pounds.
Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions
  • Indoor conditions, noise, hazards, odors, toxic conditions, dust, and periods of travel to support company's international facilities may be required.
Job Qualification Requirements
  • Knowledge
    • High school graduate or equivalent; reading, basic math, blueprint reading.
    • Machine tool technical degree a plus.
    • Tool design, machine repair helpful.
  • Experience
    • 3+ years of setup experience on Multi‑spindle Cam Screw Machines. Preferably on Gildemeister GM20 or equivalent.
  • Machines, Tools, Equipment
    • Multi Spindle machines, measuring instruments, surface and bench grinders. Lathe, mill, and drill press experience helpful.
    • Information/Directions.
  • Written and verbal work instructions, workmanship standards book (engineer drawings), quality control documentation (work orders, move tickets).
