Job summary

Tarmac is hiring a Multi-Skilled Operative at our Hayes site. You will operate both mobile and fixed plant, assist with weighing and production, and work to tight deadlines to ensure quality delivery.

We offer varied shift patterns, with occasional weekend and night work. Training is provided, and there are clear routes for progression across multiple career paths within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Genuine willingness to learn in a fast-paced plant environment.
• Strong timekeeping, punctuality, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Clear communication skills and attention to detail.
• Basic IT knowledge, familiarity with Microsoft tools and SAP desirable.

Responsibilities

• Operate Mobile and Fixed Plant including loading shovels, 360 excavators, and asphalt mixing equipment.
• Run the weighbridge and support production targets with supervision.
• Maintain safety standards, conduct plant inspections, and fix defects.
• Assist with maintaining site housekeeping and efficient plant operation.

We9re recruiting for a

Multi‑Skilled Operative to join our growing team at our Hayes site this role is reporting to the Site Manager, where you9ll play a key role in the smooth, safe, and efficient running of the plant.

This is a varied, hands‑on role where you9ll operate both mobile and fixed plant, support stock and weighbridge operations, work on the rail, and contribute to the production of high‑quality asphalt for our customers.

You9ll be part of a supportive team working to tight deadlines to ensure on‑time, high‑quality delivery.

What You7ll Be Doing

Operating Mobile & Fixed Plant including loading shovels, 360 excavators, and asphalt mixing equipment Running the Weighbridge ensuring accurate, efficient processing, supporting production Targets working closely with the Supervisor to meet daily/weekly goals

Maintaining Safety Standards following all SHE policies and ensuring plant safety compliance, Conducting Plant Inspections identifying defects and taking corrective action, Maximising Plant Availability keeping operations running smoothly, Maintaining Site Housekeeping ensuring a clean, safe working environment

Due to the nature of the role, some weekend and night work will occasionally be required.

We9re looking for someone who brings enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to learn.

You9ll thrive here if you have:

A Desire to Learn especially around mobile and fixed plant operations, strong timekeeping and flexibility, clear communication skills, attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment, basic IT knowledge, microsoft programs, SAP

Desirable (but not essential):

Experience in asphalt or quarry operations, mobile plant qualifications, previous asphalt mixing experience
