Job summary

Denton County, TX is seeking a Corrections Facility Technician I to maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems across the Sheriff's Department, Detention Center, and jail facilities.

You will perform building trades tasks such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and HVAC, supervise inmate trustees on work projects, and ensure safety and quality standards. A HS diploma or GED, US citizenship, a valid driver's license, and Jailer certification within one year are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 1 year of related experience
• U.S. citizen
• Must attain Texas Jailer certification within 1 year of employment
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and obtain Texas license within 90 days

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair mechanical and electrical equipment, including jail security systems
• Assist in preventive maintenance programs and schedules
• Assist in facility improvement plans and cost estimates
• Perform carpentry and renovation work (floors, roofs, doors, windows, partitions)
• Supervise inmate trustees on work projects and ensure policy compliance
• Review contracted work for quality and safety standards
• Regular and punctual attendance; perform related duties as required
