Job summary

YWCA Northeast Kansas seeks an Assistant Shelter Manager to oversee day-to-day facilities operations across multiple sites, including shelters, the day center, and rural offices. The role requires coordinating maintenance, safety, and supply management with a trauma-responsive approach.

The position reports to the CSE Program Director and involves regular travel between sites, after-hours support, and staff coaching after completion of training. Based at a confidential shelter location.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Familiarity with domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and trafficking dynamics preferred.
• Strong communication and crisis engagement skills requested.
• Basic IT and security systems knowledge is a plus (surveillance, locks, networks).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with independence and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Ensure facilities are well-maintained and compliant with health, safety, and building codes.
• Coordinate maintenance, inspections, and vendor relationships; propose preventive plans.
• Oversee procurement and stocking of supplies within budget.
• Supervise staff, interns, or volunteers after training period.
• Attend meetings and support program operations and safety audits.
