Job summary

Akicita Federal, LLC seeks a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support across IHS facilities in New Mexico. The role includes patient interaction, specimen collection, vaccination assistance, lab prep, and clinic operations support with rotations between Santa Fe and Santa Clara NM.

Responsibilities include screening, venipuncture, point-of-care testing, documentation in EMR, and coordination with nursing teams. A state-accredited program completion and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a state-accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Minimum of 12 months Medical Assistant experience.
• Current and unrestricted Medical Assistant credential/license.
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS and PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient screening, intake, and vital signs.
• Assist with venipuncture, specimen collection, labeling, and lab prep.
• Support vaccination clinics and medication administration.
• Provide clinical support across neonatal to geriatric patients.
• Perform point-of-care testing (strep, flu, UA, glucose, pregnancy).
• Enter patient information into EMR and maintain records.
• Respond to acute conditions and escalate per protocols.
• Coordinate with nursing teams and answer patient calls.
• Maintain infection control standards and PPE compliance.
• Ensure background investigations and child safety docs are completed.
