Job summary

Bowhaus is looking for a full-time, multi-site Dog Trainer to join our team. The Professional Dog Trainer reports to the General Manager and supports the mission of Playful, Passionate, Personal and Professional care for pets and their families.

You will train dogs daily, meet with parents to set goals, and craft individualized training plans. Documentation and progress updates will be shared in person, via email, and video, with a strong emphasis on positive reinforcement and LIMA principles.

Qualifications

• CCPDT certification or ability to obtain within one year.
• 1–2 years of experience in animal training preferred.
• Knowledge of dog behavior and breed characteristics.
• Understanding of operant and classical conditioning in training.

Responsibilities

• Train dogs daily and prepare training plans to assist clients with behavior modification.
• Meet with clients on arrival and departure of pet to discuss training expectations and progress.
• Provide enrichment to training dogs.
• Document and explain in detail the dog's behavior and training status for each training session (in-person, email, video).
• Adhere to LIMA (least intrusive, minimally aversive) training standards with positive reinforcement.
• Run or develop class curricula; conduct group and private lessons as needed.
• Grow business by making recommendations to Pet Parents and create content for social media.
