GBH News seeks an energetic reporter to join our newsroom on a Wednesday–Sunday schedule, covering general assignment news with a focus on higher education. You will pitch, pursue, and deliver original reporting across digital and radio platforms for Greater Boston and beyond.

You are a proactive journalist with strong storytelling, source-building, and deadline-driven skills, comfortable collaborating with editors and colleagues to elevate coverage across programs and websites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• 3–5 years of reporting experience in a newsroom environment.
• Strong writing, storytelling, and interviewing skills.

Responsibilities

• Pitch, research, and report general assignment news stories with enterprise and breaking news focus.
• Cover breaking news and report across platforms on a quick turnaround.
• Write, edit, and produce stories for digital and radio, including web posts and audio.
• Conduct interviews, gather sound, and deliver clear, accurate journalism under deadline.
• Collaborate with editors, producers, and newsroom teams to shape coverage across broadcast and digital platforms.
• Build and maintain sources within the communities covered.
