Job summary

MUSC Health Emergency and Urgent Care, part of the Medical University of South Carolina, seeks a PRN Radiologic Technologist to perform X-ray and CT imaging with a focus on patient comfort and safety. The role supports high-quality diagnostics in a busy emergency setting.

Candidates must be ARRT and SCRQSA registered, hold a valid BLS, and have at least 2 years in diagnostic imaging and CT. Join a team committed to excellence, modern equipment, and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
• Minimum 2 years minimum experience in diagnostic imaging & CT; preferred in emergency, pediatric, and orthopedic exams in both modalities.
• Must be ARRT & SCRQSA registered (Radiography and CT).
• Current BLS required from AHA or Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures in both X-ray and CT modalities.
• Provide exceptional patient care while ensuring patient comfort and safety during imaging procedures.
• Explain imaging procedures clearly to patients and answer questions to promote understanding.
• Verify patient information and ensure proper preparation prior to examinations.
• Operate X-ray and CT equipment safely and efficiently per department protocols.
• Produce accurate, high-quality images for interpretation by licensed practitioners.
• Maintain competency in all assigned imaging procedures and equipment.
• Adhere to radiation safety standards to minimize exposure for patients and staff.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team to support timely diagnosis and treatment.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational policies and procedures.

Additional Job Description

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.

Experience: Required 2 years minimum experience in diagnostic imaging & CT. Preferred experience in emergency, pediatric, and orthopedic exams in both modalities. Must be able to produce very high-quality special imaging with little supervision. Must be able to function effectively in a team‑oriented environment. Must be familiar with age specific criteria.

Required Registration/Certification

• Must be registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) & South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA).
  Must be registered in both Radiography (ARRT) (R) & Computed Tomography (ARRT) (C)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required , either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
