Position Overview
The Multi-Modality Technologist NG FR performs routine and complex high-quality imaging exams in assigned modalities. The role involves providing safe, patient-centered care, addressing the physical and emotional needs of patients of all ages. The Technologist must be willing to learn new skills and maintain annual competencies in all assigned modalities.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT), Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB), or ARRT as a sonographer (ARRT(S)), RDMS, CCI certification in Medical Sonography, RDCS in Cardiac Sonography, or RVT as Vascular Technologist.
- For new graduates: Must pass certification exam within 90 days of hire.
Requirements for Continued Employment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Additional certifications such as MRI, CT, PET, Sonography, Mammo, Nuclear Medicine, or ARRT-specialty certifications are required prior to advancement to level 2.
- Meet eligibility requirements for multi-modality role and progress to Clinical Ladder Level 2 within 24 months.
Experience and Education
- Preferred: 1-3 years of experience in assigned modalities, experience in an academic medical center.
- Required: Graduation from a JRC or CAAHEP accredited program in Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine, or Sonography, or a related degree.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Radiations Science, Radiologic Technology, Sonography, or Vascular Sonography.
Responsibilities
- Perform or assist in radiologic imaging exams independently, based on physician orders, protocols, and safety standards.
- Represent the goals, values, and vision of VCU Health System.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and policies.
- Resolve basic service delivery issues.
Additional Requirements
- Review, sign, and adhere to supplementary job descriptions and scopes of practice.
- Work shift rotations and schedules as established by management.
- Be available for weekend and after-hours coverage as needed.
- Considered an "Essential Employee" and may be required to report to work accordingly.
Physical and Other Requirements
- Physical: Lifting 20-50 lbs., prolonged standing, sitting, walking, reaching, repetitive motion.
- Activities: Computer interaction, reasoning, problem solving, communication.
- Other: Vision, emotional resilience to fast-paced environment, adaptability to change.
