Job summary

Will work in X-Ray and CT. Will include weekend day/evening shift.

As a Multi-Modality Technologist I at Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore Maryland, you will deliver under general supervision, perform routine and specialized diagnostic imaging procedures in at least two imaging modalities on a consistent basis.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Executes basic clinical competence in a primary modality, in all locations across all patient types; in addition, performs exams and procedures needed in one of the following modalities: NM, CT, MRI, Mammography, and/or Interventional Radiology in accordance to facility protocols. Selects accurate technical factors on an individual patient basis and demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient. Administers contrast according to facility policy.
  • Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives and efforts to improve workflows, patient experience, quality, and safety to enhance patient care and operational efficiency. Actively participates in student and employee training and educational activities.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and prepared work environment, including cleaning and preparing patient rooms. Maintain supplies and inventory in area.
  • Verifies order, patient prep, and reason for exam to initiate appropriate scanning protocols. Communicate effectively with patients, obtain patient history, answer questions, and explain procedures to ensure patient understanding and comfort.Provides patient education and support, including preparing patients for procedures and addressing their physical and psychological needs. Escalates concerns through appropriate channels.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and operation of equipment, performing quality control and reporting on any equipment and environmental issues promptly.
  • Prioritizes patient flow and coordinates care with consistent and frequent communication with patients, care teams and families. Documents patient care activity in various electronic health record systems. Distributes final images in a timely manner to the PACS system for interpretation.
  • Always acts and communicates professionally, embodying the organization's SPIRIT values and fostering a respectful and supportive environment for patients, families, and colleagues. Adheres to the ARRT Standards of Ethics.
  • Adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards, complying with federal, state, societal and accreditation regulations.
  • Follows directions from the leadership hierarchy, ensuring adherence to all protocols, maintaining patient flow, and seeking clarification whenever necessary.
Qualifications
Education
  • Associate degreerequired; or
  • Certificate (before Jan.1, 2015) in Radiologic Technology from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE), Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or Medical Education and Training Campus (METC).
Experience
  • Prior work experience not required
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered with American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or NMTCB (CNMT)With Certification in one of the following: CT, MRI, Mammography, Ultrasound, PET CT, Nuclear Medicine, or Interventional Radiology required upon hire.
  • State of MD/VA, if applicable, (required upon hire).
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross required upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of various computer software applications and basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment. Outstanding quality and customer service experience required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task and work independently; Maintains professional and courteous behavior to ensure a positive image within the community served and to promote customer satisfaction; Demonstrates dependability; critical thinking, self-management, initiative, creativity and problem-solving abilities to improve the quality and efficiency of the department.
  • Ability to perform in a high-pressure environment and deal effectively and professionally with a diverse population.
  • Performs Nuclear Medicine and/or diagnostic medical radiographic exams and fluoroscopic exams in and out of the operating room setting.
  • May operate mammography equipment, magnetic resonance scanner or CT scanner to obtain images for use by physicians in diagnoses and treatment of pathologies.
  • Produces computerized tomographic scanners or magnetic resonance scanners or radiographs of designated anatomical areas. May assist physicians with imaging guidance for biopsy procedures in diagnostic and one of the following: mammography, CT, or ultrasound.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $35.68 - USD $58.84 /Hr.
