The Multi Modality Technologist works under the supervision of the Radiology Sr. Tech/Technical Manager, or designee, and is responsible for performing multiple modality imaging in areas such as Interventional Radiology, MRI, X-Ray, CT, Nuclear Medicine, and OR C-Arm guided procedures (based on specialties). The role supports operational needs, maintains quality and throughput, and ensures high clinical quality and patient care. The Technologist is required to work in at least two advanced modalities 50% of the time.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include:
- Adheres to WPH Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
- Prepares and positions patients correctly, observing specific requirements for each protocol, including documentation and questionnaires.
- Produces high-quality images, reviews scans for quality and completeness.
- Assists physicians during biopsy procedures as needed.
- Participates in on-call rotation depending on area of specialty (IR and X-Ray for OR support).
- Performs QA/QC testing and calibrations as required by regulatory agencies.
- Adapts to emergent procedures or situations in the department.
- Maintains cleanliness of all areas, equipment, and accessories.
- Reports malfunctioning equipment and failed QC.
- Performs contrast injections as required.
- Handles routine office duties, including communication, documentation, and use of EMR and PACS systems.
- Notifies staff upon exam completion for timely case management.
- May serve as instructor or preceptor.
- Communicates professionally with patients and families, addressing questions or concerns.
- Provides age-appropriate care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Ensures medical supplies are ordered, stocked, and properly circulated.
- Attends staff meetings and in-services.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited radiography program or hospital-based program.
- NYS DOH license is required.
- NYS Contrast Media Injection license is required.
- Advanced ARRT certification (CT, IR, MRI, MRSO, ARDMS, or NMTCB) is required.
- Continuing education: 24 ECE credits over two years.
- BLS certification through AHA required or within 90 days of hire.
- Radiation dose pledge completion for Image Wisely/Image Gently required during orientation or before end of probation.
