Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Multimodality Tech/Radiology Tech with competency in at least two modalities. The role covers General Diagnostic Radiology, CT, MRI, Mammography, Interventional Radiology, Ultrasound, and Nuclear Medicine/PET, based on department needs.

Responsibilities include coordinating patient scheduling, performing exams, ensuring radiation safety, and assisting radiologists under supervision.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain inventory of materials and supplies; coordinate procurement.
  • Schedule patients with admitting, physicians, and nursing staff.
  • Document radiology and center charges for each exam.
  • Provide instruction to technologists and staff.
  • Maintain radiation safety standards in the department.
  • Assist Radiologists in Interventional Radiology procedures.
  • Select appropriate protocols for identified procedures.
  • Greet patients and ensure safe transfer to the IR suite.
  • Prepare images for radiologist review and coordinate studies.
  • Adhere to infection control and sterile techniques.

The Multimodality Tech is a Radiology Tech who is trained, qualified and competent in at least two of the below disciplines. The technologist is expected to work in any area for which they are qualified based on the operational needs of the department.

A day in the life of a Multi Modality Interventional Radiology Tech at Hackensack Meridian Health includes

  • Maintains adequate inventory of materials and various supplies and recommends procurement of necessary supplies.
  • Coordinates scheduling of patients with the admitting department, referring physicians, nursing staff and inter-departmental sections.
  • Documents all Medical Center charges and Radiology charges for each exam.
  • Provides instruction to technologists and auxiliary personnel through formal and informal education.
  • Maintains standards of radiation safety throughout the department.
  • Assists Radiologists and other qualified physicians (under Radiologist supervision) in performing Interventional Radiology procedures.
  • Select proper protocols for identified procedure.
  • Greets all patients when they arrive for their exam utilizing A.I.D.E.T. standards.
  • Ensures patients' safe transfer into and out of Interventional Radiology suite.
  • Prepares images for review by radiologist.
  • Organizes and coordinates studies with previous x-ray studies.
  • Adheres to the principals of image gently & image wisely.
  • Follow & adheres to infection control guidelines and sterile techniques.
  • Maintains Interventional Radiology room for cleanliness, supplies, and etc., following each exam.
  • Operates radiographic equipment integrally with mechanical injector at injection rate and amount directed by radiologist.
  • Performs required daily clerical duties, which include the use of EPIC, Teletracking System, computer system, patient scheduling, and other computer systems as added by hospital.
  • Responsible for scheduled shifts.
  • Overtime as needed to provide continual quality patient care.
  • On call assignments as needed per Department of Radiology policy.
  • Adheres to the policies of Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.
  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.) This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
  • Performs specific daily and monthly QA.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Completion of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred
  • One-year experience in Interventional procedures.
Licenses and Certifications Required
  • NJ state license for Diagnostic Radiology (D.R).
  • Registration with the ARRT - one or more of the following modalities MRI (or ARMRIT), CT, Xray, IR, or Mammography.
  • NJ state license and Certification in Nuclear Medicine only if secondary modality is in Nuclear Medicine.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
Licenses and Certifications Preferred
  • VI or CV certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Minimum rate of $44.30 Hourly
