Job Details:

Purpose

The Multi-Modality Technologist operates and manages multiple imaging modalities, including mammography and X-ray, to assist in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. This role involves preparing patients for imaging procedures, operating advanced imaging equipment, ensuring the quality of images, and maintaining patient records. The Multi-Modality Technologist typically reports to the Director of Imaging and works closely with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

Patient Preparation and Positioning

  • Explain imaging procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.

  • Position imaging equipment at the correct angle and height over the appropriate area of the patient’s body.

  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during imaging procedures.

Imaging Procedures

  • Operate mammography and X-ray equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes.

  • Follow physicians’ orders precisely and conform to regulations concerning the use of radiation.

  • Administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice.

Image Evaluation and Quality Control

  • Review and evaluate developed images to determine if they are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.

  • Perform quality control checks on imaging equipment to ensure it is safe and in working order.

  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.

Patient Care and Support

  • Monitor patients’ conditions and reactions during and after imaging procedures.

  • Address any patient concerns or adverse reactions promptly.

  • Provide post-procedure instructions and support to patients.

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain imaging supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating future needs, and placing orders.

  • Ensure a clean and organized working environment in the imaging suite.

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.

  • Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) with specializations in mammography and X-ray.

  • 2 years of relevant experience in mammography or X-ray imaging.

  • Skilled in operating mammography and X-ray equipment.

  • Proficient in administering contrast media and medications.

  • Ability to evaluate images for diagnostic quality.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.

  • 3 years of experience as a Multi-Modality Tech or in a similar role.

  • Additional certifications in advanced imaging modalities.

Salary Range

$75,000 + depending on qualifications

  • May be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, hazardous medications and disoriented or combative patients, or others.
