Job summary

St. Joseph Medical Center in Houston seeks a part-time Radiologic Technologist to perform routine and invasive imaging procedures, follow physician orders, and maintain strict radiation safety and quality standards.

Duties include patient prep, equipment calibration, assisting Radiologists, data entry, infection control, and ensuring timely imaging workflow.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
• ARRT certification in two modalities beyond radiology (MR/N/CT, etc.).
• Texas Medical Board licensure as Radiologic Technologist.
• Current BLS certification.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Consistently supports and communicates the Mission, Vision, and Values of St. Joseph Medical Center.
• Prepares patient for procedure by noting medical history, screening for contrast reactions, and maintaining safety standards.
• Performs daily calibrations of equipment, cleans scanning area, and ensures stock within department.
• Provides Radiologist/Physician with assistance during complex, invasive, and therapeutic procedures, including room and supply preparation.
• Adjusts to high volume situations while maintaining accuracy and quality; follows imaging policies.
• Completes order entry and exam data entry promptly for radiologist review.

Summary: Promotes quality patient care through the performance of routine and invasive imaging procedures utilizing appropriate technique, established protocols, physician direction and age specific guidelines. Maintains thorough knowledge of PACS, equipment, supplies, radiation safety and quality assurance guidelines and applies such knowledge in day-to-day performance of duties.

Shift: Part Time 7a-7p Weekend

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Consistently supports and communicates the Mission, Vision, and Values of St. Joseph Medical Center.
• Prepares patient for procedure by noting appropriate medical history, carefully screening patients for contrast reactions, noting the correct physician order, and maintaining rigid adherence to department safety standards.
• Performs daily calibrations of equipment, cleans scanning area before and after each patient and at shift breaks, adheres to infection control practices pre and post patient care, stocks supplies and routinely exams stock to make sure no expired items are in the department.
• Provides Radiologist/Physician with assistance during complex, invasive, and therapeutic procedures, including room and supply preparation.
• Able to adjust to high volume situations and critical needs without sacrificing accuracy/quality. Follows policy and procedures when imaging patients.
• Completes order entry and exam data entry in a timely manner that allowing for images to be viewed and reported on by radiologist.

• Follows the St. Joseph Medical Center Guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent, or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education: Graduate from an approved/accredited School of Radiologic Technology required.

Certification: Required certification in two of the following modalities beyond radiology. ARRT(R)(T)(M) (MR)(N)(CT), ARMRIT certification, NMTCB

Licensed: Texas Medical Board Medical Radiologic Technologist.

Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required. Other certification requirements as defined by the certification policy.

Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
