Job summary

Mevers School of Excellence is seeking a Multi-Language Teacher to deliver high-quality language instruction and develop student proficiency, cultural awareness, and communication skills. You will collaborate with colleagues to weave language learning into the broader curriculum and foster an engaging, inclusive classroom environment.

Responsibilities include designing standards-aligned lessons, using diverse strategies and technology, assessing progress, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and SC teaching certification or eligibility.
  • Proficiency in target languages with strong verbal and written communication.
  • Experience teaching language learners preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.

  • Develop and implement engaging and effective lesson plans for one or more world languages in alignment with state standards and BCEA’s curriculum.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, technology, and resources to support diverse learning needs and styles.
  • Create a positive and culturally rich classroom environment that encourages student participation and language immersion.
  • Assess student progress regularly using formative and summative assessments and provide feedback to students and guardians.
  • Integrate cultural studies and real-world applications into lessons to enhance language learning and global awareness.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align instructional practices and coordinate cross-curricular projects.
  • Participate in school events, professional development, and community activities that promote language and culturaeducation.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement and attendance in compliance with school and state requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, class activities, and opportunities for language practice outside of school.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal education regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Multi-Language Teacher at Mevers School of Excellence is responsible for delivering high-quality language instruction to students in one or more world languages. This position focuses on developing students’ language proficiency, cultural awareness, and communication skills while supporting academic growth. The Multi-Language Teacher works collaboratively with colleagues to integrate language learning into the overall school curriculum and to foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, World Languages, Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Valid South Carolina teaching certification in one or more world languages or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Proficiency in the target language(s), with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience teaching language learners in a school setting preferred
  • Strong classroom management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of best practices for language acquisition and cultural instruction.
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively; sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work Environment

This position operates in a professional school environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and instructional materials. Noise level is typically moderate, but can be higher during student-centered activities or events. Occasional local travel for school-related functions may be required.

This position is classified as Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is in accordance with applicable federal and South Carolina labor laws.
