Summary of Role:

A project engineer manages the technical communication and quality of community development. This position will review designs for accuracy, manage change orders, manage RFIs, while working with individual builder needs. Knowledge of the permitting process, solar installation, technical communication, and task tracking are essential for success. A successful engineer in this role will understand all aspects of the Multifamily Housing projects to coordinate clearly and maximize efficiency; work hard to foresee any risks that may compromise the timeline or budget; ensure that all potential and manageable factors are efficiently checked. The position also requires strong interpersonal and leadership skills and the ability to communicate clearly with the team and project stakeholders.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Attend project meetings and communicate effectively with clients to interpret their requirements and needs whilst ensuring SunPower needs are met by the project team.
  • Communicate effectively with the Project Managers, Construction Managers, and other team members to provide assistance and technical support.
  • Maintain quality control and reviewing plan sets for correctness and compliance.
  • Optimize design output with a focus on exceptional quality & value engineering.
  • Review as-built conditions and take actions to reduce field revisions.
  • Review redesign and rework requests as needed.
  • Request/review/submit Bills of Materials (BOMs) per project.
  • Participate in process improvement, product research and qualification, and design tool development.
  • Develop and manage key performance indicators that align with department and company goals.
  • Manage project allocation for adequate use of design capacity, minimize design cost while meeting client deadlines.
  • Support design team by researching & communicating specific project requirements.
  • Manage timely response to requests for information (RFI) and submittals to our design team.
  • Work with Project Manager to receive timely responses to RFIs to our customers.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or other related discipline required.
  • 2+ years of project experience working in the construction industry required.
  • Ability to read construction plans, including all disciplines.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit a plus.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite of tools, exposure to schedule software.
  • Salesforce reporting and data analysis proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or other related disciplines.
  • EIT certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in design or engineering in solar, electrical, or residential construction.
  • Experience engineering battery storage and multi-family solar installations.
  • Advanced knowledge in solar construction methods.
  • Excellent understanding of NEC and I-codes as it relates to solar and storage.
  • Lean / six sigma experience.

Pay Range: $82,280 - $148,104* Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, short and long-term incentives, and a comprehensive and competitive benefits program which includes health insurance coverage, employee wellness, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, paid time off, and so much more.
