Job summary

Jobtailor in Whitewater, WI is seeking an experienced industrial maintenance technician to install, repair, and maintain production equipment and PLC systems in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

You will complete work orders, troubleshoot problems, manage parts, and support continuous improvement while adhering to safety rules, PPE, and lock-out/tag-out procedures; teamwork and training of associates are expected.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Associate or technical degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Three years of industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints, service manuals, and maintenance records.
  • Knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, electrical and electronic control systems, pneumatics, HVAC, production equipment, engines, and motors.
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and tape measure reading.
  • Proficient with MS Office and E-Maintenance familiarity.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication, plus teamwork.
  • Safety conscious with ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, maintain, move, align, erect, or install production/facility/electrical equipment.
  • Design, program, repair, and maintain PLC systems.
  • Complete work orders, preventive maintenance rounds, repairs, and general maintenance.
  • Diagnose trouble and determine repairs; replace parts as needed.
  • Reorder supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Lay out carpentry work and specify materials; finishing and masonry work included.
  • Notify supervisor of irregularities with supplies, machinery, or processes.
  • Participate in training and continual improvement opportunities.
  • Safety is a personal responsibility; verify area and equipment are safe before duties.
  • Check safety equipment; wear PPE; follow all safety rules and procedures.
  • Lock-out/Tag-out procedures must be adhered to when equipment is down.
  • Maintain cleanliness of tools and work area; keep workstation organized.
  • Keep equipment in safe operating condition; report problems to Maintenance.
  • Participate in training of new associates as directed by supervisor.
  • Perform other projects/tasks as assigned by management.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Install, repair, maintain, move, align, erect, or install production/facility/electrical equipment. This work may be performed from written or verbal instructions, drawings, samples, or sketches, often to close tolerances. This work may be performed using hand tools, power tools, and electrical maintenance knowledge.
  • Design, program, repair, and maintain Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems.
  • Complete work orders, preventive maintenance rounds, repairs, and general maintenance.
  • Diagnose trouble and determine extent of repairs necessary; repair, refit, or replace parts.
  • Reorder supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Lay out carpentry work and specify materials; includes finishing and masonry work.
  • Notify supervisor or designated personnel of any irregularities or problems encountered with supplies, machinery, or processes.
  • Participate in training sessions, seminars, and continual improvement opportunities.
  • Safety is a personal responsibility; verify that the area and equipment are safe before proceeding with duties.
  • Check all safety equipment; follow all facility safety rules and procedures; wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
  • Lock-out/Tag-out procedures must be adhered to when equipment is down for repair or cleaning.
  • Maintain cleanliness of tools and identified tool boards while keeping the workstation and surrounding area clean and organized.
  • Keep equipment in safe operating condition, report problems to the Maintenance department.
  • Participate in training of new associates as directed by the supervisor.
  • Perform any other project/task as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent is desired.
  • Associate degree or technical degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Three (3) years industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, service manuals, and maintenance records.
  • Understanding of mechanics, hydraulics, electrical and electronic control systems, pneumatics, HVAC, rubber industry production equipment, internal combustion engines, and single and three-phase electric motors.
  • Requires the ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Strong computer and system skills – MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Familiarity with E-Maintenance is a plus.
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
