Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Company is seeking a Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician for our Decatur, AL facility. This role will troubleshoot automated systems, manage equipment reliability, and lead contractors on restoration projects.

A strong focus on documentation and data analysis supports our safety and quality standards. The position requires journeyman level knowledge in electrical/control systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automation, with flexibility for a 12-hour shift rotation.

Qualifications

• Journeyman level knowledge of electrical & control systems, power transmission, hydraulics, pneumatics, automation, and multi-craft maintenance.
• Willingness to work on a 12-hour 2-2-3 shift rotation, fixed days or nights.
• Safely operate powered industrial equipment and follow safety rules & GMP's.
• Capable of leading a crew of contractors on planned or assisted projects.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot automated systems including PLCs, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic interrelations.
• Improve plant equipment reliability by preventing breakdowns and enhancing preventive maintenance.
• Documentation and data analysis to sustain equipment reliability.
• Lead and direct contractors on project execution.
• Communicate effectively in verbal, written, and meeting settings.

In this role you will:

• Troubleshoot automated systems - including programmable logic controls, electrical components, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic interrelations
• Take control of plant equipment reliability and own the results of operations by preventing breakdowns and improving preventive maintenance practices
• Be a maintenance professional who understands the importance of documentation and data analysis as part of the job of sustaining equipment reliability
• Be an electro-mechanical technician familiar with the methodologies of reliability centered maintenance and able to take charge of designing, planning, and executing restoration/repair projects
• Be a loyal and reliable team member who consistently finds the good in their team mates and is dedicated to getting the job done, no matter the sacrifice
