Job summary

University Hospital in Newark seeks a Multi-Competent Imaging Technologist to provide Radiology services including x-ray energy, MRI and CT processing for inpatients and outpatients. You will perform radiographic procedures to demonstrate vascular structures as requested by a licensed practitioner, using professional judgment and ALARA principles.

Responsibilities include patient preparation, positioning, and operating imaging equipment while adhering to NJDEP standards.

Qualifications

  • Must hold NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography license and ARRT certification.
  • If ARRT eligible, certification within one year of employment and maintain thereafter.
  • Two years of experience in Diagnostic Radiology required.
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • Maintain valid BLS/CPR certification.
  • Must pass respirator fit test and wear N95 per PEOSHA standards.
  • Annual respirator fit testing is required.
  • Must be certified in MRI, CT or Angiography where applying.

Responsibilities

  • Explain the exam to the patient according to age-specific needs to gain cooperation.
  • Position and image patients per departmental protocols and equipment.
  • Determine proper exposure factors for radiographic techniques.
  • Verify informed consent where required.
  • Scan and access patient records via RIS and PACS.
  • Access images for review on CT, MRI and Interventional Suite and PACS.
  • Corroborate patient history with procedure documentation.
  • Prepare patients for procedures with clear instructions to minimize anxiety.
  • Operate equipment and related tools for contrast administration and monitoring.
  • Select appropriate program respecting established data acquisition parameters.

About The Role

What You’ll Do
  • Explains the exam to the patient according to age-specific needs to gain cooperation, minimize anxiety and optimize desired results.
  • Positions, immobilizes, and images patients according to approved departmental protocols as well as equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability. Selects appropriate pulsing sequences respecting established protocols and other factors influencing acquisition parameters.
  • Determines proper and satisfactory radiographic technique exposure factors.
  • Verifies informed consent where required.
  • Scans and accesses patient record via Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archive Communications System (PACS).
  • Accesses images for review on the console of the CT, MRI and Interventional Suite as well as from PACS.
  • Corroborates patients clinical history with procedure assuring information is documented.
  • Prepares patient for procedures; providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Independently operates and cares for equipment and other technical instruments/associated equipment to achieve desired results used for administration of contrast agents, patient monitoring, surgical instruments to achieve desired results.
  • Selects appropriate program respecting established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring
Required
  • Must possess a current NJ Department of Environmental Protection Diagnostic Radiography license and current ARRT certification or be ARRT eligible.
  • If ARRT eligible, must attain certification within one (1) year of employment and maintain throughout employment.
  • Two (2) years of experience in Diagnostic Radiology required.
  • Computer literacy.
  • The successful candidate must maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR.
  • The individual must be able to pass a medical evaluation and a respirator fit test and wear an N95 particulate filter respirator mask in accordance with PEOSHA standards as a condition of employment.
  • Annual Respirator Fit Testing required.
  • Must be certified in the service to which the candidate is applying MRI; Cat Scan (CT); Angiography

Compensation

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is TT/4100 - $49.76 - $50.26 - $51.77 per hour, University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs.The expected salary range for this position is in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
