Job summary

SoftPathTechnologies is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale our cybersecurity platform’s backend services. You will own features end-to-end, leveraging Python and Java, and contribute to AI/LLM-powered capabilities in a fast-growing startup.

You will work remotely within the United States, collaborating with cross-functional teams, owning reliability and performance, and helping shape the platform’s technical direction.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong backend development experience.
• 5+ years of professional Python experience building and maintaining production-grade systems.
• Strong professional experience with Java.
• Hands-on experience building AI/LLM-powered applications, AI agents, agentic systems, or LLM integrations.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalable architectures, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience working with databases, APIs, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Strong sense of ownership and autonomy, with the ability to operate effectively in a startup or high-growth environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who enjoys building scalable systems, solving complex technical problems, and taking ownership in a fast-paced startup environment.

You will play a key role in designing, building, and improving backend systems that support the company's cybersecurity platform. You will work closely with engineering and product teams and have significant ownership over technical decisions and product development.

The ideal candidate brings strong backend experience with Python and Java, solid knowledge of distributed systems, and hands-on experience building AI/LLM-powered applications or agentic systems.

Requirements

8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong backend development experience.

5+ years of professional Python experience building and maintaining production-grade systems.

Strong professional experience with Java.

Hands-on experience building AI/LLM-powered applications, AI agents, agentic systems, or LLM integrations.

Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalable architectures, and asynchronous processing.

Experience working with databases, APIs, message queues, and data processing pipelines.

Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
