Job Role and Responsibility

Xilinx, Inc., a subsidiary of AMD, Inc., is hiring MTS Software Development Engineer to research, design, develop, and test operating systems‑level software, compilers, and network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Understand and define software requirements and architectures. Develop software and tools in support of design, infrastructure and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, cloud‑based and Internet related tools. Define proprietary platform(s), including hardware and software components. Drive software and systems solutions including development and product definitions. Plan, design, develop and/or test software systems for software enhancements and new products. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Participate in code reviews, creating unit tests, authoring detailed documentation related to your work, and working with on‑site and offshore teams to deliver the software solutions on schedule. Partake in all phases of the software development including system requirements analysis, coordinating feature design and development across functional and organization boundaries. Utilize expertise with computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications

Degree required: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Experience required: Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's Degree or foreign equivalent and five (5) years of progressive post‑baccalaureate experience in the job offered, or closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required:

  • Developing secure software, optimizing and enhancing software code quality;
  • FPGA architecture;
  • Developing high‑performance software (using programming languages including C, Python, and Linux OS);
  • Triaging and resolving system failures by identifying root causes and implementing unit test automation to ensure software quality and stability;
  • Writing and optimizing code for deployment in production environments, ensuring efficiency and performance;
  • Collaborating with technical support teams to resolve customer‑reported issues, ensuring timely and effective solutions;
  • Driving the bring‑up of new hardware, ensuring smooth integration and functionality.
