Job Role and Responsibility

AMD, Inc. is hiring MTS Product Development Eng. to research, design, develop, and/or test operating‑systems level software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Integrate content and release test programs to high volume manufacturing on next‑generation AMD microprocessors. Perform test planning, pattern conversion, pattern debug, silicon characterization/debug and data analysis. Correlate test solutions to lab/manufacturing/customer platforms to validate product design, fabrication process, packaging technology, and manufacturing robustness to product specifications. Design, develop, and/or manage activities for a specific product or group of products from product definition and planning through production, release and end of life. Serve as the central resource with design, process, manufacturing, test, quality, and marketing as the product(s) move to production and distribution. Involvement lasts throughout all stages of a product's lifecycle including modifications, upgrades and maintenance of the product or product line. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercise judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Utilize knowledge of or wide‑ranging experience with AGILE, Scrum, debugging, scripting languages, and semiconductor product development to identify and plan product improvement activities to reduce cost, improve yield, and resolve quality issues. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required

Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or in a closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience

Employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field and five (5) years of progressive post‑baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required

Position requires three (3) years of experience in the following:

  • Overseeing all stages of the product development lifecycle (PDLC), including ideation, design, development, testing, launch and maintenance;
  • Using Unix or Linux environment to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software products;
  • Using Perl for scripting, test automation, data manipulation/parsing and integration;
  • Writing scripts in Python or Java for data analysis and testing;
  • Using MongoDB across the entire product development lifecycle to design, develop, test, and improve data‑driven applications;
  • Using SQL to extract and analyze data from databases to understand user behavior and measure product performance;
  • Utilizing Git for version control and collaboration throughout the product development lifecycle; and
  • Using data structures to build efficient, scalable, and well‑performing software products that meet user needs and business objectives.
Position requires any amount of experience the following
  • Writing code for specific products using C or C++; and
  • Multi‑threading to improve the performance, responsiveness, and scalability of software.
