The Position

Job Description:

We seek an experienced Android Tester to join our DevOps team. You will ensure the quality, compatibility, and performance of Android devices and applications, using testing tools like CTS, GTS, and other frameworks. You will collaborate with developers, product managers, and QA team members to validate Android’s compatibility, stability, and functionality across devices and configurations.

Responsibilities
  • Android Compatibility Testing: Execute CTS and GTS to ensure compliance, validate Android OS functionalities, report bugs, and work with developers to resolve issues.
  • Test Execution and Reporting: Plan, automate, and document test cases, conduct regression, functional, and performance testing.
  • Test Environment Setup: Configure devices, emulators, install test tools like ADB, and manage dependencies.
  • Collaboration with Teams: Work with stakeholders to ensure test coverage, provide feedback, and support agile development.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for testing improvements, stay updated on testing tools and trends, and suggest enhancements.
  • Cross-Device Testing: Test across various Android devices, validate new Android versions, and ensure backward compatibility.

The salary range of $93,000 – $157,000 is part of Panasonic’s total compensation, with final offers based on experience, skills, and location. The role may include bonuses and incentives. The minimum hourly wage will be the greater of the posted range or local minimum wage.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years in Android testing, with expertise in CTS, GTS, and testing frameworks.
  • Experience with Android device testing tools like ADB, Fastboot, Logcat.
  • Proficiency in testing types, troubleshooting, and log analysis.
  • Experience with automation tools such as JUnit, Appium, UIAutomator, Espresso is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of Android architecture, APIs, and hardware/software interactions.
  • Knowledge of Android application lifecycle, resource management, and testing tools like JIRA, TestRail.
  • Attention to detail, troubleshooting skills, and familiarity with Agile/Scrum.
  • Experience with cloud testing platforms and CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Android upgrade testing, native/web app testing, and device features.
  • Knowledge of performance testing tools like Monkey, Systrace, Perfetto.
  • Understanding of security and penetration testing for Android.
