Job summary

Collinear AI, Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA seeks a Member of Technical Staff (MTS - Research) to bridge frontier research and production engineering, building data engines and high-fidelity environments.

You will iterate on RL approaches and translate them into scalable infrastructure that moves real-world metrics. You will design and implement ultra-realistic SimLabs, develop rigorous evaluations, and deliver frontier performance on open-source models while collaborating with the founders and research

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in a technical field (CS, Math, Physics, etc.) or demonstrated proof of work through open-source contributions or industry experience.
• Strong software engineering foundation with ability to build robust, scalable infrastructure; comfortable in a Python-friendly, CLI-first environment.
• ML fluency with understanding of foundation models, their construction, evaluation, and optimization.
• Empirical mindset with experience conducting research or experiments with reproducibility and data-driven results.

Responsibilities

• Build Agentic Environments: design and implement next-gen 'SimLabs' for ultra-realistic, long-horizon simulations.
• Programmatic Verification: develop robust, policy-aware judges and evaluations beyond simple benchmarks.
• Close the Loop: design and run post-training evaluations to deliver frontier performance on open-source models.
• Rapid Iteration: debug and iterate across the ML stack, keeping tools CLI-first and developer-friendly.
• Collaborate: work daily with founders and research staff to shape the roadmap and push AI reliability.
