Job summary

Intertek is seeking a MT/PT/UTT/MFE Level II Technician for our Houston, TX site. This project-based, casual role supports the Asset Integrity Management team with UT-Thickness, MT, and PT inspections and floor scans for tank inspections.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years field experience, ASNT Level II (UT-Thickness), MFE certification, and TWIC. A valid driver’s license, RT Level II, and safety mindset are highly valued.

Qualifications

• ASNT Level II UT-Thickness; MT and/or PT certifications are preferred.
• MFE certification required.
• TWIC card required or preferred where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform ASNT Level II UT-Thickness, MT and/or PT NDT testing, and document results.
• Conduct MFE floor scans for tank inspections per procedure.
• Set up and calibrate inspection equipment; interpret results per codes and standards.
• Supervise/guide Level I personnel and trainees on the job.
• Organize and report test results to the office for data processing.
• Maintain safety-first mindset and actively pursue continuing technical education.

Intertek is searching for a MT/PT/UTT/MFE Level II Technician to join our Industry Services team working out of our Houston/Clear Lake office as a project-based, casual employee. Intertek's Asset Integrity Management team provides asset life management support to infrastructure, facilities, and equipment through the conception, design, construction, commissioning, operations, and decommissioning phases. Intertek provides specialists and engineering support in all areas of Asset Integrity Management, including design, process safety, mechanical integrity, inspection and maintenance, operational and process support, corrosion, metallurgy, and risk analysis to provide you with Total Quality Assurance.

What are we looking for?

The MT/PT/UTT/MFE Level II Technician will support the Industry Services business by performing assigned inspection activities to ensure that an object, material, or system complies with applicable codes, standards, and specific job requirements. We’re looking for an experienced Technician with a minimum of 3+ years’ experience.

What you’ll do:

• ASNT Level II testing & inspection in UT-Thickness; MT and/or PT.
• Perform MFE floor scans for tank inspection.
• Set up and calibrate equipment and to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
• The Level II Technician should be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the Methods for which qualified and shall exercise assigned responsibility for on the job training and guidance of assigned trainees and NDT Level I personnel.
• The Level II Technician shall be able to organize and report the results of any assigned NDT.
• Adopt an Intertek “Marketing and Sales” attitude in all client, vendor, employee, and outside contacts interactions.
• Actively pursue continuing technical education courses or seminars.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

• ASNT Level II certification in UT-Thickness; MT and/or PT.
• MFE Certification required
• RT Level II Certification a plus
• Minimum of 3+ years field experience (preferred)
• Hold a valid State card (preferred)
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record (preferred)
• TWIC Card (required)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Able to pass a physical exam
• A mindset of safety first.

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• The ability to organize and report test results and send information to the office for data processing.
• The ability to solve technical issues in the field.
• Rope Access certification a plus
