Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin is seeking a Medical Technologist – Registered or Medical Laboratory Technician – Registered for Captiol Clinic Laboratory in Madison, WI. This part-time 0.4 FTE role runs Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with responsibilities across Chemistry, Hematology, and Urinalysis.

The incumbent performs tests from multiple locations, executes QC, and supports staff while maintaining HIPAA and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related field required.
  • ASCP or AMT MT certification or equivalent certification.
  • Ability to obtain CPR/AED within four months.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory tests across Chemistry, Hematology, and Urinalysis.
  • Conduct quality control, troubleshooting and maintenance tasks.
  • Collect specimens and provide technical support to staff.
  • Work under supervision of Laboratory Services Manager/Lead.

Medical Technologist - Registered or Medical Laboratory Technician - Registered

Capitol Clinic Laboratory

Part Time 0.4 FTE

Hours: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

Responsibilities

Medical Technologist (MT) – Registered is responsible for performing laboratory procedures as ordered by a provider. Tasks span generalist work in Chemistry, Hematology, and Urinalysis, including:

  • Performing lab tests from all GHC-SCW locations in any or all departments
  • Quality control, troubleshooting, and maintenance functions
  • Specimen collection
  • Providing technical support to Medical Laboratory Technicians, providers, and other staff
  • Working under the general supervision of the Medical Laboratory Services Manager, MT – Chief, or MT – Lead

Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs laboratory procedures as ordered by a practitioner. Work includes:

  • Performing lab tests from all GHC-SCW health center sites in any or all departments
  • Quality control, troubleshooting, and maintenance functions
  • Specimen collection
  • Working under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, Chief Medical Technologist, and/or MT - Lead

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, Chemical, Physical, Biological Science, or related field from an accredited college or university is required
  • Valid certification from ASCP or AMT as a Medical Technologist, or equivalent ASCP certifications with Medical Lab Technician (ASCP), or related certification in Microbiology, Chemistry, or Hematology as applicable
  • Possession of or eligibility for a valid Healthcare Provider CPR/AED certificate; required to obtain within four (4) months of employment
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety and hygiene protocols
  • Ability to perform tests accurately and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
  • Knowledge of quality control testing procedures and practices
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills; ability to be culturally sensitive with diverse patient populations
  • Familiarity with computer-based applications (e.g., MS Office, electronic medical records); EPIC experience is desirable
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and understanding of HIPAA requirements
  • Knowledge of CLIA 1988 requirements to keep laboratories compliant
  • Ability to be on-call every other week to support laboratory operations; ability to provide own transportation to various work locations
