Our Client, a Healthcare company, is looking for a MT/ Medical Laboratory Technician for their Rushville, IL location.
Responsibilities:
- Knowledgeable about screening for medical necessity requirements
- Familiar with our Reference laboratory & interface (ATLAS)
- Follows drug screen/BAT protocols per each client’s specific needs
- Responsible for performing and understanding quality control rules and documentation
- Obtains, receives and processes specimens
- Analyzes specimens
- Interprets test results
- Reports accurate test results
- Performs work in any laboratory station of Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Blood Bank, urinalysis, Blood Gas and Phlebotomy
- Manages and operates equipment safely Competent in phlebotomy on all patient ages; birth to geriatric
- Professional and Personal Responsibility
- Adapts to changing workload as required
- Completes annual educational requirements & attends in-services and meetings when required
- Attends staff meetings; reads, initials and returns all monthly staff meeting minutes
- Complies with all infection control practices
- Knowledge of blood borne pathogens, universal precautions, hazardous chemicals and fire and safety policies and procedures
- Maintains knowledge of and adheres to all hospital policies
- Complies with all requirements of the Illinois Department of Public Health, OSHA, CMS and other regulatory and professional standards and hospital policies
- Interpersonal Skills/Communications/Human Relations
- Communicates in a courteous and respectful manner with patients, families, visitors, medical staff, nursing personnel and other departments
- Answer the telephones in a polite manner
- Attends staff meetings regularly and collaboratively interacts to generate ideas and outcomes
- Maintains ethical standards related to confidentiality, HIPAA and DHHS privacy and security regulations
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Promotes and actively participates in the C.A.T.C.H. initiative
Requirements:- Successfully complete an accredited MLT/CLS, MT/MLS program and have an Associates or Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science, Applied Science, chemical, physical or biological science
- Successful completion of the ASCP/AMT registry exam.
- Recommended one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
- Ability to remember words, numbers, procedures and pieces of information, Ability to work on multiple tasks at one time with good organizational skills, judgment and technical skills, Analytical skills necessary in order to interpret routine tests, recognize abnormal test results and troubleshoot equipment, Knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served, Demonstrate patience, tact, professionalism and enthusiasm
- Minimum Years of Experience: Less than 1 year
- Certifications/Requirements: HEW, ASCP, AMT, NCA
