UAB Medicine is hiring an MSW for the Psychiatric Services department, working evenings in the emergency department. The role delivers psychosocial support, education and referrals to patients and families affected by chronic, acute or terminal illness.

You will assist with discharge planning and connect patients to community resources. Requirements include an MSW and LMSW license in Alabama, with BLS if needed outside UAB Hospital, or First Five Rapid Response training if in UAB Hospital.

Qualifikationen

• Master's degree in Social Work required.
• Licensed as an LMSW by the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners.
• For units outside UAB Hospital, BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days.
• If in UAB Hospital, completion of First Five Rapid Response Basics within 30 days and annual maintenance.

Pay range: $50,050.00 - $81,330.00 / year

Shifts: full-time PM

Schedules: 3-11 p.m.

Job Description

To provide individuals, families and groups with the psychosocial support needed to cope with chronic, acute or terminal illnesses. To provide services including advising family care givers, providing patient education and counseling, and making referrals for other services. May also provide care and case management or interventions designed to promote health, prevent disease and address barriers to access to healthcare. To facilitate the discharge planning process and identify community resources to assist patients and their families. To act as a clinical resource to both social service students and the community.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Social Work required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) by the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners required. For units/departments other than UAB Hospital, certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment. If job is in UAB Hospital, successful completion of First Five Rapid Response Basics online training required within 30 days of hire into position and must be maintained annually.
