Job summary

Aligned Technology Group, Raleigh, NC, is seeking an Overnight MSP Cloud Engineer to own AWS cloud operations, respond to MSP tickets, and proactively optimize client environments. You will focus on reliability, performance, and security across multiple accounts while delivering superior service.

The role emphasizes automation, IaC usage (CDK/CloudFormation, Lambda), and collaboration with security and cloud architects to implement well-architected AWS solutions in alignment with MSP standards.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience managing AWS environments in a managed services, operations, or DevOps capacity.
• Proven track record of handling cloud incidents, service requests, and operational tasks via ticketing systems.
• Strong knowledge of core AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Security Hub, GuardDuty, Cost Explorer and Lambda.
• Experience implementing AWS Well-Architected Framework best practices for security, reliability, and cost optimization.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, CDK or CloudFormation.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across Linux and Windows environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a 3rd shift engineer for ongoing MSP operations, monitoring, incident response, patch management, and infrastructure optimization within AWS.
• Manage and resolve incoming MSP tickets with timely, accurate technical resolutions and clear client communication.
• Implement and maintain best practices for AWS MSP cost optimization, tagging, and governance.
• Support and automate operational processes such as backup validation, patching, IAM policy reviews, and security posture assessments.
• Collaborate with cloud architects and security teams to implement well-architected AWS solutions aligned with best practices.
• Proactively monitor system health and performance, identify cost savings, scaling improvements, and risk mitigation.
• Participate in client onboarding, ensuring new AWS environments meet MSP standards and readiness checklists.
• Leverage IaC and automation tools to improve efficiency and consistency across environments.
• Contribute to knowledge base, runbooks, and automation scripts to reduce time-to-resolution.

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilledOvernight MSP Cloud Engineer to join our Managed Services Practice (MSP) and take ownership of ongoing AWS cloud operations, support tickets, and proactive management of client environments. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a service-oriented environment and enjoys problem-solving, automation, and continuous optimization of cloud infrastructure. The MSP Cloud Engineer will ensure stability, performance, and security across multiple customer AWS accounts while delivering exceptional customer service and contributing to continuous improvement of our MSP frameworks and automation toolsets.

The ideal candidate is technically strong in AWS, passionate about operational excellence, and comfortable working across diverse client environments, from startups to enterprise workloads.

Key Responsibilities:

• Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as CIS, SOC2, or ISO 27001.
• Understanding of ITSM and change management best practices in MSP environments.
• AWS CertifiedSysOpsAdministrator or Solutions Architect (Associate or higher) strongly preferred.
