Job Description

Purpose

The Senior Medical Science Liaison I is a field-based scientific expert supporting research and business objectives within a designated therapeutic area across the product lifecycle for a specific geography/territory. This role involves developing and maintaining professional relationships with healthcare professionals and internal teams, providing scientific support, and serving as a peer scientific expert in the therapeutic area.

Responsibilities

1. Develop and maintain relationships with thought leaders, academic centers, and researchers in assigned therapeutic areas.
2. Present scientific information related to disease states, therapeutic landscapes, and AbbVie products to healthcare professionals.
3. Support research initiatives, including site evaluation, recruitment, investigator meetings, and external collaborations.
4. Create awareness and relationships within the medical community for new therapeutic areas.
5. Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams to develop account plans supporting business objectives.
6. Serve as a scientific resource by answering medical questions and addressing clinical information issues.
7. Conduct ongoing training for medical affairs, sales, and internal personnel.
8. Ensure compliance with corporate policies and document interactions accurately and timely.
9. Manage expenses within budget parameters.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, APP) in a relevant scientific discipline; Doctorate preferred.
• Minimum of 2+ years relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong communication skills.
• Interpersonal, presentation, and teaching skills; ability to work independently and in teams.
• Ability to meet healthcare industry credentialing requirements.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% and reside within the territory.
