Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems seeks a Sonographer I–III to perform ultrasonography, generate diagnostic images, and support interpretation by licensed practitioners. The primary site is Short Pump, with rotation to other ambulatory sites to cover open shifts.

The role requires ARRT(S) or RDMS/CCI/RCS/RVT credentials and BLS. Six-month orientation completed; one year experience preferred. $20,000 sign-on bonus for offers accepted by 30 September 2026.

Qualifications

• Certification in sonography with ARRT(S) or RDMS/CCI/RVTT/ RDCS required.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
• Six-month orientation completed.
• Experience is valued; one year in ultrasound is a plus.
• Ability to work with patients of all ages.

Responsibilities

• Perform ultrasound studies and produce diagnostic images.
• Explain procedures clearly to patients and families.
• Follow imaging protocols and document deviations as needed.
• Complete post-processing, preliminary reporting, and transfer for physician review promptly.
• Routinely cover open shifts as competency allows.
