Morgan Stanley Investment Management seeks a Finance Associate or Senior Associate to join the MSPC Finance team in New York, supporting negotiation, structuring and management of fund financing solutions across Direct Lending funds and SMAs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
  • 1 year in financial industry; credit funds or asset-level financing a plus.
  • Big 4 accounting background is a plus.
  • Strong Excel and MS Office skills.
  • Able to work independently with strong time management.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare internal documentation and board presentations for new/amended transactions.
  • Prepare borrowing base calculations and lender reporting (waterfalls, certificates, etc.).
  • Review monthly/quarterly valuations models and inputs.
  • Coordinate asset-level approvals with MSPC's lenders and teams.
  • Assist auditors and implement new accounting requirements with auditors.

MSIM strives to provide outstanding long-term investment performance, service and a comprehensive suite of investment management solutions to a diverse client base, which includes governments, institutions, corporations and individuals worldwide.The Morgan Stanley Private Credit (“MSPC”) Finance team is responsible for the negotiation, structuring, execution, and management of fund level financing solutions across a spectrum of different Direct Lending funds and separately managed accounts.The Finance Associate or Senior Associate will work in conjunction with the CFO of the direct lending platform and Head of Capital Markets on executing various financing solutions including subscription-lines, corporate revolvers, asset-based facilities, securitizations, unsecured bonds, and other bespoke financing solutions for various direct lending funds and BDCs.Job Description:Preparing internal documentation and presentations, as necessary, including board approval presentations for new and amended transactionsPrepare and maintain borrowing base calculations and other monthly and quarterly lender reporting requirements (waterfalls, borrowing bases, compliance certificates, etc.) and ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all such reportingCoordinate and assist in review of the monthly accounting close package from third party administratorDetail review monthly/quarterly valuations models and inputsResearching accounting issues and preparing technical accounting policy documentsManage and review administrator deliverables to ensure accurate processing of activity, timely receipt of deliverables, accuracy of NAV reporting and financial statements, and accuracy of investor notices and reportingCoordinate asset level approval with MSPC’s asset based lenders in advance of putting assets into SPV financing vehiclesLiaise with the MSPC deal teams to address any follow up questions or data requests that come from lendersLiaise with MSPC finance team to explain accounting implications of new or amended financing arrangements on fund performanceWork with third party administrators, collateral agents, custodians to review monthly/quarterly waterfall, borrowing bases etc.Work with the liability management team, fund lenders and auditors on Agreed Upon Procedure auditsCoordinate with fund operations on timing and availability of fund borrowings and repaymentsCoordinate with rating agencies to obtain relevant issuer or portfolio company ratings or credit estimatesReview the tie-out of quarterly/annual financial statements and assist in implementation of new accounting requirements with auditors and administratorsQualificationsBachelor's Degree; preferably in Finance, Accounting, or EconomicsAt least 1 year of experience in financial industry (preferably in credit funds or at a lender that is providing asset level financing to a credit fund)Big 4 accounting firm background a plusPrivate Credit Funds experience a plusStrong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat) with advanced skill level in MS ExcelStrong academic record with prior experience working in an analytical and team environmentAbility to work independently with demonstrated strong time management skillsExcellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilitiesHigh level of accountability and ability to effectively prioritize tasksWHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM MORGAN STANLEY:At Morgan Stanley, we raise, manage and allocate capital for our clients – helping them reach their goals.
