Job summary

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Technology or related field preferred
• 3+ years IT operations with strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
• 3+ years Microsoft SQL Server experience
• Understanding of server-client computing and relational database environments
• Experience with data management and data processing flowcharting techniques
• Knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices
• Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Technical documentation skills
• Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
• Self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
• Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Good written and oral communication skill

Responsibilities

• Ensure availability and performance of the databases supporting the system
• Maintain hardware resources allocated to databases for high resilience and performance tuning
• Proactively monitor database systems for secure services with minimal downtime
• Provide trend analysis to management for resource decisions
• Troubleshoot and solve SQL development issues
• Improve and maintain databases including upgrades
• Implement and release database changes per timelines
• Install, configure and upgrade SQL Server/MySQL/Oracle servers
• Evaluate MSSQL features and related products
• Establish and maintain backup and recovery policies
• Implement and maintain database security (users/roles/privileges)
• Tune databases and queries; monitor performance
• Support application tuning and performance monitoring
• Create and maintain documentation and standards
• Plan growth and capacity changes
• Provide 7×24 support when required
• Troubleshoot and consult with development teams
• Interface with vendors and internal staff for support
• Work with IT and Hosting teams on optimal configuration/tuning of infrastructure
• Carry out other responsibilities as assigned
• Create, monitor and optimize data extracts, ETLs, and other database jobs/processes
• Assess production impact of proposed changes and support change management
• Participate in development standards for DBA administration and maintenance
