Job summary

Reed City Middle School is seeking two enthusiastic and dedicated coaches for the middle school girls basketball teams. These positions focus on fostering athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship among young athletes while working closely with student-athletes to develop basketball abilities.

Coaches will promote a positive team environment, encourage personal growth on and off the court, and communicate regularly with parents and school staff.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience in basketball, preferably at the middle school or high school level.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to motivate young athletes.
• Ability to work with students, parents, and school staff in a collaborative environment.
• Background check required; CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain before season start.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct daily basketball practices focused on skill development, teamwork, and game strategies.
• Organize and oversee all aspects of the girls basketball program, including practices, games, and events.
• Provide instruction on shooting, passing, dribbling, defense, and teamwork.
• Develop game strategies and communicate with players during games.
• Foster a positive and inclusive team culture emphasizing respect and personal growth.
• Monitor the academic and personal growth of student-athletes.
• Communicate regularly with parents, administration, and stakeholders about progress.
• Assist coordination of transportation and logistics for games and events.
• Ensure compliance with school and league policies and safety protocols.
• Attend all scheduled games, practices, and required trainings.
